Nach Baliye 9 Jodi, Anita Hassanandani- Rohit Reddy On Urvashi Dholakia’s “Partiality” Statement: “No Favouritism. We All Felt Madhurima-Vishal Danced Better”- EXCLUSIVE
As Nach Baliye 9 is progressing, there is more and more scoop coming out from the sets. We recently met Anita Hassanandani and Rohit Reddy for a quick chat on the show and how they are coping with competition
How are the rehearsals progressing? Too much hard work?
Anita: Yes, I guess our physical condition is speaking out loud (laughs). We are working really hard, just hope it pays off.
Rohit’s health was quite bad when the show kick-started. How are you coping?
Anita: We both got extremely worried when Rohit got sick because in the 6 years of us being together, none of us have fallen extremely ill. So, I got quite scared looking at his state and was ready to quit the show as well- nothing is more important than his health. But Rohit took the challenge head on and said, ‘we have committed, let’s finish this. Now, we are taking care of his diet and make sure he is hydrated well. Touchwood, he is feeling better.
Talking about Nach Baliye 9, who do you consider you biggest competitor?
Anita: Everybody! Frankly, we are weak dancers and there is a scope of lot of improvement in us, which we are achieving day by day. That’s our only aim.
Rohit: I think Faizal and Muskaan alag level par hain. We are underperforming as compared to them because they are in another league altogether. We hope we touch them at some point.
Anita: Nahi ho sakta(laughs).
Urvashi Dholakia feels that the judges/channel is partial. What do you think?
Anita: It is too soon for partiality as a lot of jodis are still a part of the show. Anyway, judges are very fair, toh aaisa bilkul nahi hai. I think Urvashi got extremely emotional about her performance and hence she didn’t realize what she was saying. I do agree that her elimination performance was mind-blowing, but the dance factor was heavier in Madhurima and Vishal’s performance. Also, they see how much have you improved from your last performance; it’s not just that day’s performance alone.
Rohit: There is zero favouritism in the show. In fact, the interaction between the judges and contestants is also very normal. They are quite strict as well. Jo unhe genuinely accha lagta hai unhe high-five dete hain and unki tareef karte hai. We all felt Madhurima and Vishal were better.
The show is also in talks for a lot of drama besides the dance performances.
Anita: You have brought ex-couples together on one stage, drama and fights are expected to happen. Do logon ka agar break-up hua hai to kisi reason ki wajah se hua hai, 24 ghante 2 exes ko sath me rakhoge, toh aur kya hoga?
Rohit: We, being a married couple, have started fighting, so I can just imagine what these former couples go through.
Anita: 6 saal me itni ladai nahi hui, jitni 6 hafton mein hone lagi hai (laughs).
What do you guys argue on? Dance?
Anita: Yes, most of the times I point out if Rohit is not doing a step properly, that’s our comfort level with each other, at times he tells me. So, there are moments where we agree and sometimes don’t agree.
Who is stricter- Ahmed Khan or Raveena Tandon?
Rohit: Ahmed sir, because he is technically more sound about dance.
Anita: In one of the episodes, he didn’t like many performances and he directly told all of us, ‘Maza nahi aaraha hai. Yeh Nach Baliye 9 hai aur aapko aapka dance level badhaana padega.’
